Mr. Cedric D. Sparks, Sr.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Cedric graduated from The University of Alabama in 1998, and later graduated from Miles Law School in 2003. During this time, Cedric met Pamela J. Flakes of Salem, Alabama, and married in 1999. Pamela and Cedric have three children, Cedric D. Sparks, Jr., DeJa Camille Sparks, and Chancellor David Sparks.

In May 1998, Cedric was appointed to the City of Birmingham-Mayor's Office Division of Youth Services, where he served as Administrative Assistant to the Mayor. Just a year later, he was promoted to the position of Operation's Manager and shortly after, was promoted once again to Director of Operations. Finally, in July 2002, he was appointed Executive Director of DYS.

Cedric has been the recipient of many awards and acknowledgements including:

Leadership Birmingham
Who's Who in Black Birmingham's "Most Influential"
Ebony Magazine's Top 30 Young Leaders of the Future

And in the civic and community arena, he spends his time as a Youth Bible Study Instructor and Step Ministry Coordinator for 45th Street Baptist Church, President of the Birmingham Chapter of 100 Black Men, and serving as a Chairman on the Western Area YMCA Board of Directors. He is also involved in numerous other community and civic activities.

At this time, he is looking forward to serving as Facilitator for Project Corporate Leadership and utilizing his knowledge to help participants become the leaders of tomorrow.
